Philadelphia Gold and Silver Index

goldInvest in gold! This is very common financial advice. Gold is supposed to be very stable and also a very liquid asset. The tradition of investing your money in gold goes back hundreds of years, and therefore also has an honorable position in many investors hearts. The demand for gold is pretty much always exists, and a stock in gold is considered to be safe and carry minimal risk.

Since the focus of my portfolio is commodities, I felt that gold and silver should be represented. Because we all know, that gold and silver is the king and queen of commodity stocks. But these stocks are also very expensive, and could not be fitted in to a $1.000 budget. So I decided to invest in the Philadelphia Gold and Silver Index.

The Philadelphia Gold and Silver Index (XAU) and the Amex Gold BUGS Index (HUI) are the two most watched gold indices on the market.

I make my money in Japan

Assuming that every body’s goal is to make money with stocks, I honestly don’t care where my gains come from. In my case it’s Japan, or better, thanks to the Japanese automobile industry I make money.

Ups and Downs

The last weeks my stocks have been very moody. They delivered gains for several days, only to drop by almost the double amount the following day. And so it went on. But today is yet another good day with a gain of $ 37.87, which is an increase of  3.56 %. My current value is now $ 1,102.70.

I think it is exciting to follow how my stocks are doing (even though they are not real). I have even got my favorites, which are my 16 sugar stocks. They have been responsible for many of my down turns, but also many of my needed gains. › Continue reading

Sony Corp

Howard Stringer - CEO

Yesterday I got rid of my 6 WWE stocks, since they experienced a loss over the past weeks. Luckily my DIS and existing SNE stocks could cover it, but I realized that my profit would be much bigger without them. And so I traded them in for another 4 SNE stocks in, even though I read that Sony is a very risky investment at the moment, since it is experiencing some problems internally. See here. › Continue reading
